Community Health Needs Assessment

Willis-Knighton Health System is required by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act to identify the community’s health needs by conducting a Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA). This formal assessment was conducted by CHC Consulting on behalf of the health system between August 2012 to February 2013 with the overall goal of identifying the major healthcare needs, barriers to access, and health priorities for those living in Northwest Louisiana. The analysis included a review of current health data, demographics and input from numerous community representatives.

During the assessment, the following six Health Priorities were identified:

  • Access to primary and specialty care
  • Access to mental health services
  • Fragmented continuum of care
  • Natality and maternal health issues
  • Patient education and preventive care
  • Unhealthy lifestyles
