Career Institute
The objectives of the Career Institute are to:
- Offer healthcare career development opportunities to WKHS employees and to the local community. This involves entry-level job programs and advancement opportunities.
- Partner with local institutions to facilitate the preparation of competent health care providers and to promote WKHS as an employer for future graduates.
- Support the educational development of all employees through ongoing mandatory and continuing education.
- Introduce and expose the community to healthcare career opportunities that target future caregivers.
Programs available through the Career Institute include:
- New employee orientation and Nursing Service orientation
- Contract Nurse orientation and Skills Fairs
- Annual employee education computer and classroom training
- Certified Nursing Assistant Level II Program
- Unit Clerk Course
- Multiple levels of Dysrhythmia Interpretation based on education and experience
- Preceptor Development
- Leadership Development
- American Heart Association Programs including:
- Healthcare Provider CPR
- CPR for Family and Friends
- Heartsaver CPR
- ACLS
- PALS
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program
- TABE testing for Reading and Math
- Legal Seminar for Nurses
- FISH! For Employees
