Diabetes Management
Certified Diabetes Educators provide education in both group and individual formats in the following content areas:
- Blood glucose monitoring
- Meal planning
- Risk factor reduction
- Exercise
- Medication & insulin use
- Complications
- Stress management
Insulin Pump Training:
- Team approach on operation and use of pump by certified pump trainer
- Carbohydrate counting with registered dietitians who are certified diabetes educators
Gestational Diabetes Management Classes:
- Comprehensive class offered weekly
- Individual follow up appointments
- Schedule: Wednesday afternoons from 1:30 pm to 3 pm
- By appointment only, physician referral required
Referrals & Appointments:
A physician referral is required for all diabetes services. Physician offices can fax referral information to (318) 212-4080. Appointments can be made during regular business hours by calling (318) 212-4250.
