Hyperbaric medicine is recognized medical treatment that delivers 100% oxygen to a patient’s tissues in a higher-than-normal atmospheric pressure. The continuously monitored therapy is delivered in a special pressurized chamber. It is frequently used to treat hard-to-heal wounds and decompression illness, though research has indicated its effectiveness for patients dealing with many different conditions.

The procedure is noninvasive and patients may read, sleep or simply relax as the oxygen is delivered. Side-effects are rare and can generally be eliminated by ruling out patients whose health condition make this therapy unsuitable for them.

Willis-Knighton Hyperbaric & Would Care Centers are accredited by the Undersea & Hyperbaric Medical Society, affirming our commitment to patient care and facility safety.
