Project NeighborHealth and the Northwest Louisiana Dental Volunteers will sponsor a health fair at the WK Community Education Center, 6725 Southern Avenue, on Saturday, Feb. 16, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
While parents can take advantage of cholesterol and glucose screenings, the focus of the fair will be on children’s dental screenings and dental health. The orthodontic office of Drs. Chris Cosse and Jeff Silmon will offer children’s ID dental impressions. Shots for Tots will also be available as will fun activities for the kids and refreshments for all.
For many years the Children’s Dental Clinic has served families whose income range kept their children out of government dental health programs yet was too limited to purchase dental insurance. The clinic operated out of a single location, the WK Community Education Center on Southern Avenue. Now, that program has become “Children’s Dental Services” with dental volunteers providing care at offices throughout the community.
Bonnie Hughes oversees Project NeighborHealth and works with the North Louisiana Dental Volunteers said, “This change will give us more flexibility and, hopefully, make the services more convenient to children who need them.”
