Mammosite Breast Brachytherapy This new catheter based system is being used in select patients in lieu of external radiotherapy to prevent local recurrence in the breast after breast conserving surgery. Follow-up studies are limited with early results favorable. The system requires cooperation between a radiation oncologist and surgeon. |

Galileo Cardiac Brachytherapy This system was created specifically to be used in the cardiac cath lab to prevent coronary artery closure (re-stenosis) after balloon angioplasty. A brachytherapy source prevents closure and reduces the need for bypass surgery in select patients. Cardiac brachytherapy is performed jointly by a radiation oncologist and interventional cardiologist. Click here to see more. |
