Visiting Patients
Patients in the Critical Care Units need warmth and reassurance provided by visits from their loved ones. Visits can make the patient’s time in the unit seem shorter and can aid in the healing process. However, the patients also need more time to rest and to receive the specialized treatment available to them in the Critical Care.
Visiting hours are a matter of policy that have been set to afford time for special treatments and procedures, many of which are best performed with as few interruptions as possible.
Family members may visit for 20 minute periods at 5:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. We ask that no more than two family members visit at a time. This schedule is made to allow a special time when you can be with your loved one. Between these times, the nurses and other members of the Critical Care team will be attending to the patient’s needs. If visits are made at unscheduled times, it makes the care of the patient more difficult.
We at Willis-Knighton understand that sometimes these visitation times may not be the best times for you. We will certainly try and do everything we can to help with this situation. Please understand that special considerations for one patient can lead to other families wanting the same considerations. This can create anger, hurt feelings, and frustration among families sharing the waiting room. Please understand this is why we enforce visiting hours in the Critical Care Units.
