Regional Transplant Center
In 1995 the WK/LSUHSC Regional Transplant Center received "Center of Excellence" designation from the Department of Health and Human Services for its liver transplantation programs. This placed the Center among only 42 liver transplant programs nation-wide with this recognition.
The survival statistics for liver, kidney and pancreas transplant performed at the Regional Transplant Center consistently remain above the normal averages. This success is due in large part to the extensive combined resources of two major health systems committed to the success of the program. Interns, residents and fellows supplement the medical coverage provided for patients. In addition, the Regional Transplant Center offers fellowships in transplant surgery, accredited by the American Society of Transplant Surgeons.
