Evaluation of the Benefit of Standard versus Extended Pelvic Lymphadenectomy at time of Radical Cystectomy for Bladder Cancer

Purpose

To compare the effects of performing a standard lymph node removal versus an extended lymph node removal.

Eligibility

Urothelial carcinoma of the bladder that requires radical cystectomy

Plans for a cystectomy and lymph node dissection

No prior pelvic irradiation

Study Process

Patients will be randomized based on chemotherapy type, clinical stage, and performance status

Patients will be followed every 3 months for 3 years, then once a year until year 6
