PA or NP for Orthopedic Surgery

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree + graduation from accredited PA or NP program.
  • Louisiana License

Knowledge Skills And Abilities (KSAs)

  • Excellent computer skills and ability; proficiency in Windows-based products
  • Documentation of treatment in a timely manner
  • Ability to communicate effectively, in writing and orally, with team members and to present information to patients and their families in a manner that can be easily understood
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Continued focus on quality and learning
  • Work schedule flexibility

Typical Job Duties

  • Performs exams/delivers care based on clinic processes and procedures
  • Assesses, diagnoses, provides treatment and ongoing follow-up for patients
  • Provides patient care in clinic, prior to surgery, and post op; rounding on hospital patients.
  • Orders routine testing (e.g. lab, imaging)
  • Provides educational information and counseling to patients regarding their health
  • Prescribes medications needed for treatment
  • Documents patient diagnoses, care and routine health management in a timely manner
  • Surgical duties routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid, bones and tissue

Work Shift

  • Day; some evenings for emergencies

Scheduled Weekly Hours

  • 40 - Weekend call 1/4
