Program Features

The Rehabilitation Institute is located at WK Medical Center at 2600 Greenwood Road in Shreveport, LA. and offers immediate access to all acute medical services needed. Willis-Knighton Health System is a locally owned, not-for-profit corporation that also includes WK South, WK Bossier Health Center, WK Pierremont Health Center, and WK Progressive Care Center along with a network of affiliated facilities throughout North Louisiana.

Rehabilitation therapies are provided by highly skilled rehabilitation specialists who function within a coordinated interdisciplinary team. Each rehab team is comprised of a physical, occupational and speech therapist; a case manager, a social worker; rehabilitation nurse and technologists. Psychiatry, psychology and neuropsychology services are also available.

We offer a family-oriented program with no restricted visitation unless medically indicated. Overnight accommodations are available for the family in the patient's private room.

The program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities and the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, assuring the highest standards in the rehabilitation and healthcare industry are met. Program performance and patient satisfaction are measured through a variety of internal studies and a national data bank.

Referring physicians are kept informed of their patients' progress through weekly reports. Patients are generally scheduled to be seen by their attending physician within two weeks of discharge from the Rehab unit.

Willis-Knighton Health System can provide the full continuum of healthcare services following discharge from the inpatient stay. We offer skilled nursing care, home health and outpatient rehabilitation. Our outpatient rehabilitation departments are also CARF accredited and provide comprehensive care including physical, occupational and speech therapy, social work/counseling, and case management.
