Center for Women's Health
Willis-Knighton pioneered the development in North Louisiana of a medical center totally devoted to the health needs of women when it opened the Center for Women’s Health at Willis-Knighton South. Today, the Center for Women’s Health provides services at Willis-Knighton South, WK Bossier Health Center and WK Pierremont Health Center, the locations that offer labor and delivery services.
Adjacent to Willis-Knighton South, the original Center for Women’s Health is not only attractive but functional. Mothers are cared for in spacious LDR (labor, delivery, recovery) rooms. Postpartum rooms are beautifully appointed with wood and upholstered furnishings, television and VCR and rocking chairs. Each bath features a Jacuzzi tub. The Center features a six-bed high-risk antepartum unit for mothers who experience complications during pregnancy. The WK/University Perinatal Center is located on this campus.
The Center for Women’s Health at Willis-Knighton South is home to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit directed by a board-certified neonatologist. The Level III NIUC, opened in 2007, is a 42-bed unit featuring state-of-the-art technology and an expert staff. The family-centered approach to bonding is available with individual rooms, including rooms for multiples. A calming environment with individual lighting and reduced noise levels is designed to meet developmental goals. Transfers by ambulance or helicopter by the neonatal transport team are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Referrals are welcomed by calling 318-212-5416 or toll-free 1-877-540-6428.
