Study Title

GenRF 14-10-194-NM

Purpose

Investigator-Initiated

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of whether genicular radiofrequency ablation can relieve chronic knee pain in patients who have had knee replacement. Genicular radiofrequency ablation is currently performed in Pain Management practices for many patients with knee pain. This study will particularly only look at patients that have had a knee replacement but continue to have pain.

Eligibility

Subjects that have had a knee replacement but continue to have knee pain and Orthopedist has also indicated that no further surgery is needed at this time.

Study Process

Patients age 50+ with chronic knee pain post-arthroplasty, and who meet eligibility criteria, will be considered for the study. Genicular radiofrequency ablation is an in office procedure currently used to treat minimally invasive therapy for chronic knee osteoarthritis patients who have had a positive diagnostic block. No study has determined whether genicular radiofrequency ablation can relieve chronic post-arthroplasty knee pain. The investigators propose to examine the effect of genicular radiofrequency ablation in chronic post-arthroplasty knee pain in patients who respond positively to diagnostic nerve blocks. Participation in this study will be approximately 20 weeks up to 7 visits.
