Pierremont Cardiology Earns Echocardiography Accreditation by IAC

Oct 11, 2019

Pierremont Cardiology has been granted a three-year term of accreditation in echocardiography in the area of adult transthoracic by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC). It joins Willis-Knighton Cardiology as the only practices in north Louisiana with this accreditation.

Echocardiography is used to assess different areas of the heart and can detect heart disease or signs of serious cardiovascular conditions. Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States, followed closely by stroke as the fourth highest cause of death. According to the American Heart Association, more than 2,150 Americans die each day from cardiovascular disease, which amounts to about one every 40 seconds.

“IAC accreditation is a seal of approval that provides staff with validation in knowing that the high-quality echocardiogram exams they perform are recognized and backed up by the IAC and for patients, accreditation is an indicator of consistent quality care  they receive at our facility ,” says Anil Chhabra, MD, interventional cardiologist with Pierremont Cardiology and chairman of cardiology at Willis-Knighton Health System.

Accreditation by the IAC means that Pierremont Cardiology has undergone a thorough review of its operational and technical components by a panel of experts. The IAC grants accreditation only to those facilities that are found to provide quality patient care in echocardiography, in compliance with national standards through a comprehensive application process including detailed study review.
