Willis-Knighton South & the Center for Women’s Health Receives Birth Ready Designation

Sep 07, 2021

Louisiana Perinatal Quality Collaborative (LaPQC) has awarded Willis-Knighton South & the Center for Women’s Health the Birth Ready Designation. The designation recognizes a hospital’s consistent, thoughtful healthcare improvement work and celebrates improved perinatal health outcomes, the result of implementing clinical practices that promote safe, equitable, and dignified birth for all.

Hospitals receiving the designation undergo a rigorous application and review process by the LaPQC. Five areas of requirement include participation in collaborative learning, health disparity and patient partnership, policies and procedures, structures and education, and outcome and process measures.

“We are proud to receive the Birth Ready Designation,” says Melonie Hilton, the hospital’s chief nursing officer.  “Willis-Knighton South & the Center for Women’s Health is committed to providing compassionate, family friendly and specialized  healthcare to all of our patients every day.”

Willis-Knighton South opened in southwest Shreveport in 1982 as the first satellite hospital in the state. It provides critical, emergency and general medical care with a focus on women’s services at the adjacent Center for Women’s Health, which is focused on care for women and children.
