Willis Knighton Health’s Nurse Residency Program Earns ANCC PTAP Accreditation

Dec 15, 2025

Willis Knighton Health’s Nurse Residency Program has earned accreditation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Practice Transition Accreditation Program (PTAP). It is the only nurse residency program in the region with the distinction and one of only 310 programs worldwide to hold ANCC PTAP accreditation.

“Earning this accreditation is a meaningful affirmation that our program provides the highest level of support to new nurses as they grow into confident, competent clinicians,” said Hannah Everett, Nurse Residency Program coordinator. “For nurses considering where to begin their careers, this tells them that they will be guided, mentored, and valued from their first day here. This accreditation reinforces that we are committed to not only supporting nurses, but to delivering safe, reliable care for every patient we serve.”

The Willis Knighton program is a 12-month evidence-based transition-to-practice program designed to support newly licensed registered nurses as they move from the classroom of nursing school into independent clinical practice.

ANCC PTAP sets the global standard for nurse residency programs that transition registered nurses into new practice settings. The ANCC PTAP’s accreditation means Willis Knighton’s Nurse Residency Program meets rigorous criteria in the areas of leadership, curriculum, competency, support structures, quality outcomes and continuous improvement. It delivers the knowledge, skills and professional behaviors new nurses need to deliver safe, high-quality care.
