Meet Dr. Stephen W. Lewis

Coming from a family deeply entrench in medicine, with an anesthesiologist father and registered nurse mother, Dr. Lewis is at home providing eye care. A native of El Dorado, Arkansas, he received his undergraduate education from the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) and completed his optometric training at Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tenn.

Dr. Lewis has called Shreveport home since 1987 when he joined the doctors at the Steen-Hall Eye Institute. For 23 years he worked exclusively with Dr. William H. Steen as his clinical director.

Joining the Willis-Knighton Physician network in 2010, he formed the WK Eye Institute on the Willis-Knighton Medical Center campus with Dr. Christopher Shelby and Dr. Ashley Wheat Sipes. Dr. Lewis provides pre and postoperative care for cataract and LASIK surgery patients. He also treats a variety of medical eye conditions such as glaucoma and provides comprehensive eye care, including prescribing glasses and fitting contact lenses.

Dr. Lewis is a member of the American Optometric Association and is licensed by the Louisiana State Board of Optometry. He has been appointed twice by the governor of Louisiana to serve on the Louisiana State Board of Optometry. He has also served as a board member on the Association of Regulating Boards of Optometry, the Optometry Association of Louisiana and the Southwest Council of Optometry. Dr. Lewis is an adjunct faculty member of the Southern College of Optometry, the University of Alabama-Birmingham College of Optometry and the Pennsylvania College of Optometry and Western University College of Optometry.

He and his wife, Liz, live in Bossier City with their two sons, Landon and Trenton.
