Dr. McDonald’s commitment to education and his dedication to patient care are evident in his practice at Hematology/Oncology Associates at Willis-Knighton. He entered medical school with an LSU Board of Supervisors scholarship. Attention to his studies, clinical care and patient outcomes earned him awards for Intern of the Year, House Officer of the Year, the Joseph E. Loewenstein House Officer Teaching Award, Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society, and Chief Fellow during his specialty training at Feist-Weiller Cancer Center.  

Willis-Knighton's comprehensive cancer center concept where specialized physicians collaborate on each aspect of a patient’s care appeals to Dr. Maxwell. The convenience of doctor visits, chemotherapy, radiation oncology and surgical oncology at one location also appeals to cancer patients.  

Dr. McDonald is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in oncology.
