  • Smoke-Free City Ordinances
    We're working to strengthen the smoke-free policies within our cities. This is just one way we can decrease cancer deaths due to secondhand smoke.
  • National Cancer Information Center
    Get information 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. This number is staffed by cancer specialists, social workers, oncology nurses and doctors.

    ACS is the largest source of funding for cancer research, boasting 49 Nobel Prize winners. The agency’s research influences standards for chemotherapy, radiation therapy, bone marrow transplants, mammogram, Pap test and PSA test. ACS research includes discoveries related to DNA structure the medications Tamoxifen and Gleevec.

    Thank ACS for the Clean Indoor Air Law in Louisiana, insurance companies covering the cost of cancer screenings, restrictive advertising for tobacco companies, warning labels on cigarettes and no smoking on airplanes.
