Overview
Termed “the world’s smallest heart pump,” this device is implanted during a heart catheterization procedure.
How It Works
- Pulls blood from the heart and pumps the oxygenated blood to vital organs in the body.
- Typically used for high-risk percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) and for short-term treatment of ongoing cardiogenic shock.
