Financial Information

The John C. McDonald Regional Transplant Center accepts many insurance plans including Medicare and Medicaid. For most patients the majority of the transplant costs are covered by their primary insurance.

The Transplant Financial Coordinator meets with every patient during the evaluation stage to discuss insurance coverage. Patients are educated about possible ways to prepare for and to help ease financial burdens that may arise. The Transplant Financial Coordinator is available to direct patients to different financial assistance programs or fundraising organizations to help them acquire additional monetary resources.

Fundraising is highly encouraged and many patients have found great success. Please review the websites mentioned under “Useful Links” for additional information.

The following websites can provide additional information on fundraising opportunities.

  • HelpHOPELive is a national nonprofit organization that helps patients with fundraising to ease the financial burden of transplantation.
