Balance Disorders

The Balance Disorders or Vestibular Rehabilitation Program is designed to treat patients with peripheral, distorted and central balance disorders. Vestibular Rehabilitation is one of the few conservative treatment options found to be successful in alleviating the symptoms of dizziness and loss of balance.

Therapists with specialized training in vestibular pathology complete a thorough evaluation that consists of:

  • In-depth history
  • Review of diagnostic test results
  • Postural control assessment
  • Balance assessment
  • Visual-vestibular interaction testing
  • Vertigo assessment
  • Gait analysis

The program offers a well-designed course of repetitive exercise, surface orientation, visual and postural control exercises, which can significantly decrease a patient’s sense of dizziness and improve balance. Patients are also provided education and an individualized home exercise program.
