Pelvic Floor Disorders

Specialized physical therapists evaluate and treat both female and male patients for pelvic floor conditions including:

  • Urinary incontinence, frequency, urgency, nocturia
  • Urinary retention
  • Painful bladder syndrome
  • Bowel incontinence, smearing, poor gas control
  • Bowel frequency or urgency
  • Constipation
  • Rectal pain, hemorrhoids, anal fissures
  • Pelvic organ prolapse
  • Vaginismus, dyspareunia and vulvodynia
  • Testicular and penile pain
  • Erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation
  • Pain associated with pregnancy such as sacroiliac joint, low back, and pelvic girdle pain
  • Postpartum recovery with perineal scars and caesarean scars
  • Diastasis rectus abdominus
  • Pudendal nerve dysfunction

Treatment may include:

  • Bladder and bowel training
  • Manual therapy techniques and massage
  • Exercise based therapy (local and global)

  • Nerve desensitization techniques
  • Yoga and relaxation tools
